REGULATORY NEWS

The CEN/TC 275/WG 5 taskgroup, Mycotoxins, has recently published the following methods as drafted European Standards: Aflatoxin B1 and total aflatoxins in fig paste, pistachios, peanut butter and paprika powder (prEN 14123); Ochratoxin A in barley and roasted coffee (prEN 14132); Ochratoxin A in wine and beer (prEN 14133); Determination of patulin in clear and cloudy apple juice and puree (prEN 14177); Determination of fumonisins B1 and B2 in maize – HPLC method with solid phase extraction clean-up (prEN 13585); Determination of fumonisins B1 and B2 in maize and maize based foods - HPLC and IAC clean up (prEN 14352). Four out of the 6 methods use immunoaffinity columns for sample clean-up.
