NEWS FROM INTERNATIONAL AGENCIES

European Commission funding for the European Mycotoxin Awareness Network (EMAN) ended in December 2003. The EMAN website, www.mycotoxins.org, has attracted at least 2,000 visitors per month and generally appears as one of top ten mycotoxin sites listed by major search engines.Recent updates to the EMAN site include new fact sheets on sterigmatocystin, Alternaria mycotoxins, ergot alkaloids, and analytical methods. An interactive online course on HACCP systems and another on decontamination have been added as well.

In order to continue its mission of providing information and support to the food industry, the network is now functioning as a nonprofit consortium supported by commercial sponsorship. The sponsors featured on the site are not involved in decisions regarding its editorial content. Details on EMAN sponsorship and fact sheets can also be accessed at the following website: www.mycotoxins.org
