REGULATORY NEWS

Over the past year, mycotoxin regulations in the European Union have continued to rapidly change and proliferate, posing significant challenges to more sectors of the food industry than ever before. Failure to comply with the latest standards can have major repercussions for exporters and importers, ranging from costly retesting and reprocessing to impounded or rejected shipments.Recognizing the difficulty of staying abreast of this increasingly complex regulatory environment,VICAM,a Boston-based manufacturer of AOAC-approved mycotoxin test kits, has developed a detailed compendium ofmycotoxin regulations as a service to the mycotoxin community. The list enables researchers and other industry professionals to quickly reference the EU’s existing and proposed statutory limits on aflatoxins B1,B2,G1,G2, and M1; deoxynivalenol; fumonisins B1 and B2; ochratoxin A; and zearalenone. Free copies may be obtained by e-mailing Latisha Cansler at lcansler@vicam.com. A poster-sized edition of the compendium will be available in the near future.
