Summaries of Symposia & Meetings

A conference entitled Cereal Mycotoxins:Managing Fusarium, a Supply Chain Approach in Peterborough, UK, on May 5–May 10, 2005, provided the UK cereal sector with practical advice on maintaining a quality supply base. Sponsored by Bayer Crop Science in collaboration with Nabim and HGCA, the event previewed forthcoming updates to EU mycotoxin regulations and examined the role of various farming practices in controlling the growth of Fusarium.The conference also addressed food safety from the perspective of the milling and malting industries.Additional sessions included the following: Managing the Risk ofMycotoxin Contaminants,Breeding Varieties for Tomorrow’s Market, and Food Safety—the Interdependence of the Supply Chain.
