The conference Learning From EC: Reducing Impact ofMycotoxins in Tropical Agriculture With Emphasis on Health and Trade in Africa will be held September 13–16, 2005 in Accra, Ghana,within the frame of the MYCOGLOBE specific support action. Organized by the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA), the conference will be an opportunity for EU countries to share their research and experience with tropical regions such as Africa to help reduce the impact of mycotoxins on agriculture in developing countries.The conference also aims to improve cooperation and networking between the two continents in regard to food safety and trade issues, and to provide EC institutions with a medium for exchanging information on detection methods, institutional agreements, and policies associated with public health and trade.The ultimate goal of the conference is to recommend priority actions from technical, institutional, and policy leaders for improving public health and trade through management of mycotoxins at the preharvest and post-harvest stages.
