Future Symposia and Conferences

The 2006 Aflatoxin/Fumonisin Elimination and Fungal Genomics Workshops will be held on October 16–18, 2006, in Fort Worth,Texas (USA). Hosted by the National Corn Growers Association, the event will consist of three sessions: the Sixth Annual Fungal Genomics Workshop, the Seventh Annual Fumonisin Elimination Workshop, and the Nineteenth Annual Aflatoxin Elimination Workshop. The Texas Corn Producers Board (dgibson@texascorn.org) will oversee local arrangements.

Session topics will include fungal genomics, regulation of aflatoxin biosynthesis; fumonisin elimination; crop resistance (conventional breeding); crop resistance (genetic engineering); crop management and handling, insect control, and fungal relationships; natural products for preventing fungal invasion and/or aflatoxin biosynthesis in crops; microbial ecology; and aflatoxin detection, analysis, and extraction methods.

The conference will also feature oral papers by invited speakers. USDA-ARS–funded scientists and cooperators who wish to give oral presentations should visit the Texas Corn Producers website (http://www.texascorn.org) for submission details. In lieu of giving a talk, this year’s first-time recipients of USDA-ARS grants may display research posters.
