The EU’s MYCO-GLOBE Project advanced its aim of promoting information exchange with advanced Third Countries at its February 15–17, 2006, Australia-Europe conference, Mycotoxins and Toxigenic Fungi in Food, in Sydney, Australia. The bilateral gathering of EU and Australian scientists convened at the Royal Botanic Gardens Trust to exchange research results on the occurrence, biodiversity, ecology, and pathogenicity of toxigenic fungi and mycotoxins and to discuss recent advances in detection and control. Talks included “Emerging Mycotoxicological Risks in Europe: Ochratoxin A in Wine, Hexadepsipeptides in Cereals, and Aflatoxins in Maize,” by Antonio Logrieco; “Biodiversity of Fusarium in Australia,” by Brett Summerell; and “Mycotoxins and Animal Diseases: An Australian Perspective”, by Wayne Bryden.
