New Mycotoxin Society

The International Society for Mycotoxicology will convene during the 2006 MYCO-GLOBE International Conference at the Institute of Sciences of Food Production (ISPA)(CNR) in Bari, Italy, on Thursday, the 28th of September, to elect its executive committee and representatives.

Founded by members of the MYCO-GLOBE steering committee, the society is dedicated to advancing and disseminating biological, chemical, and other scientific knowledge on mycotoxins and toxigenic fungi through member networking, scientific meetings, education, and publications. Through the active participation of mycologists, fungal biologists, toxicologists, food chemists and technologists, plant pathologists and breeders, as well as nutritionists, veterinarians, and physicians, the society aims to further international efforts to control the spread ofmycotoxins at every level of the food chain, limit consumer exposure, and improve food safety.

Society members will exchange information through e-mails, the society’s website, and newsletters, as well as at biyearly meetings. Information and application forms are available on: www.mycotox-society.org
