Mycotoxicology Newsletter

2010, Volume XIII, Issue 1

PUBLICATIONS

In 2008, Taylor & Francis, publishers of Food Additives and Contaminants, announced the division of the journal into two parts. Part A “Chemistry, Analysis, Control, Exposure, Risk Assessment,” continues to publish articles on topics originally featured in the journal, and Part B, “Surveillance,” has been estabished to accommodate the growing number of survey papers submitted to the journal.

Data on the occurrence and levels of mycotoxins, phycotoxins, and plant toxins in food and feed will be included in Part B. To be accepted for publication, data must be obtained with validated methods and meet stipulated quality standards, as well as conform to a prescribed format for subsequent data handling.

The surveillance data published in Part B is intended to provide a broader view of global food contamination and to serve as a basis for exposure assessment. To that end, survey information from Part B will be consolidated in centralized, user-friendly electronic database that will be launched in the coming months. Subscribers will then be able to access datasets either directly through the database or by clicking through from an article on the journal web page. Users will be able to download data in either standard reports or spreadsheets for data manipulation.

Taylor & Francis publishes Part B in affiliation with the International Society for Mycotoxicology and J. Gilbert, FoodLife International Ltd., serves as editor-in-chief.

Thomson Reuters has accepted “Food Additives and Contaminants: Part B” for inclusion in its Journal Citation Reports. Part B’s first full Impact Factor will be calculated in 2011.
